Xiaomi Mi 10i 5G is the first phone for the year 2021. This also marks Xiaomi's comeback to the sub 30,000 space after two long years. Previously, the company had launched the Redmi K20 series back in 2019. Staying true to its promise, the company unveiled the Mi 10i in India on January 5 - thereby completing the Mi 10 family in India.
The Xiaomi Mi 10i is basically a rebadged Redmi Note 9 Pro 5G from China, which in turn is the Mi 10T Lite but with an upgraded primary camera and made for India requirements. The 'i' in the moniker stands for India.
The launch of Xiaomi Mi 10i also makes it the most affordable device in Xiaomi’s flagship lineup, which consisted of the Mi 10 and the Mi 10T series. The big talking point is the inclusion of the 108MP image sensor which also marks the debut of the Samsung HM2 sensor in India. This is also the cheapest phone in India to sport a 108MP camera. Another highlight of the device is the Snapdragon 750G chipset which is only the second device in India to feature after the Moto G 5G.
While everyone was expecting pricing to be around Rs 30,000, Xiaomi impressed everyone with the pricing. The Mi 10i starts at Rs 20,999 and the top variant costs Rs 23,999. It will compete with the likes of the OnePlus Nord, the Samsung Galaxy M51 and the Realme X3 series in India.

Xiaomi Mi 10i: Design and Display
The Xiaomi Mi 10i sports a very similar design as the Poco X3. There is also a circular camera module which reminds us of the OnePlus 7T especially in the Pacific Sunrise colour option. The back is made up of polycarbonate material which is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5. It gives a smooth finish and is surprisingly not a fingerprint magnet. The Mi 10i is available in Pacific Sunrise, Atlantic Blue and Midnight Black colour options.
Xiaomi has retained the display from the Mi 10T smartphone. It offers a 6.67-inch Full HD+ (2400 x 1080p) LCD screen with 120Hz refresh rate. The AdaptiveSync feature also makes its way to the Mi 10i which switches between 30Hz, 48Hz, 50Hz, 60Hz, 90Hz and 120Hz to match with the content. It can go up to 450 nits. Apart from that, the display is also TÃœV Rheinland certified for low blue content consumption, supports HDR10+ content as well as HD streaming. And lastly, it is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5.
Xiaomi Mi 10i: Performance
Under the hood, the Mi 10i is powered by the new Snapdragon 750G chipset which is an octa-core processor clocked at 2.2Ghz. It is built on an 8nm fabrication while the graphics are taken care of by the Adreno 619 GPU. This is also a 5G enabled chipset which comes with Qualcomm’s X52 5G modem for 5G connectivity. The device is available in three configuration - 6+64GB, 6+128GB, and 8+128GB. There is also a dedicated microSD card support.
Apart from the above-mentioned specs, the Xiaomi Mi 10i will offer dual-frequency GPS, Galileo, GLONASS, and Beidou. For audio, there will be dual speaker setup onboard. The IR blaster and the headphone jack will also make the cut.
Xiaomi Mi 10i: Battery
The Xiaomi Mi 10i has a 4,820mAh battery with support for 33W fast charging, which should be able to refuel it completely in an hour. There is no support for wireless charging.
Xiaomi Mi 10i: Camera
This is where Xiaomi brings the game-changing feature. The Mi 10i is packed with a 108MP camera which uses the Samsung HM2 sensor. This also marked the debut of Samsung HM2 in India. It is followed by an 8MP ultra-wide shooter with a 120-degree field-of-view, a 2MP macro shooter and a 2MP depth sensor. It can also shoot 4K and maco videos.
On the Mi 10i, the selfies are handled by a 16MP punch-hole camera. Shooting modes include long exposures, photo filters, HDR, beautify, sky replacement, Pro mode for photos and videos and more.
