The Realme GT was confirmed to be one of the first Snapdragon 888-powered smartphones in December 2020. Codenamed “Race”, it was unveiled in China on March 4. It is Realme’s first flagship of the year, but will soon be followed by a few more.
Realme now operates with a dual-flagship strategy. It will have two distinct premium smartphone lines — the GT series for performance, and another one for photography which will arrive later. There’s also a Realme GT Neo on the horizon which will be powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 1200 chipset and will serve as a cheaper alternative.
Currently, the Realme GT also holds the title for the cheapest smartphone with the Snapdragon 888 chipset, beating the Redmi K40 Pro by a bit. It will be available in other markets in the near future, competing with the best smartphones in India.

Design and display
The Realme GT adopts a design inspired by racing cars and is a tribute to speed. The hero finish is the Racing Yellow variant, which is made of vegan leather, offering a peppy yellow back with a black stripe along the cameras.
The other colours are silver and deep blue which are made of 3D curved glass. It’s a pretty minimal back design with just the rectangular camera island in the top left corner.
On the front is a relatively compact 6.43-inch Super AMOLED display with a Full HD+ resolution, 120Hz refresh rate, 360Hz touch sampling rate and more. It also covers 100% of the DCI-P3 colour space, signifying excellent colour accuracy.
Realme GT specs
The Realme GT is powered by the latest Snapdragon 888 chipset with 5G. Built on the 5nm process, it is equipped with the Cortex X1 core for higher performance. UFSS 3.1 storage and LPDDR5 RAM also make the cut. For better thermal performance, the chipset is covered by a cooling structure that consists of a stainless steel frame, vapour chamber and air circulation.
The other key talking point is the inclusion of 65W Super Dart charging. The 4,500mAh battery can be charged from 0 to 100% in less than 35 minutes. This means that the rumours of 125W Ultra Dart charging were incorrect.
Lastly, there’s a triple-camera setup on the back with a 64MP f/1.8 primary sensor, an 8MP ultra-wide shooter and a 2MP macro camera. On the front is a 16MP selfie shooter.
