Poco has been one of the best value for money smartphone makers in many markets with its budget, mid-range and even flagship smartphones. However, in India, the company has focused mostly on the budget and mid-range devices with its C, M and X series smartphones. Poco M3 Pro 5G design and display
If there is one area that we expect the Poco M3 to stand out from the rest of the crowd, that’d be the design. The Poco M3 came in a stunning new design and some eye-popping colour options. With Poco M3 Pro 5G, the company has taken it to a whole new level. The design is also one of the potential selling points of this phone as its two-tone design might appeal to some. Our eyes were drawn to the yellow version of the handset, but it also comes in black or blue option.
The back has a camera module and just below that, you can see the big Poco branding. The design is pretty subjective, but with the Poco M series, it looks like Poco is taking a bold move to make its device stand out from the crowd.
In terms of display, the Poco M3 Pro 5G flaunts a 6.5-inch Full HD+ LCD screen with 2400 x 1080 pixels resolution. The Poco M3 Pro 5G will also be Poco’s first M series phone with a high refresh rate display as the Poco M3 Pro 5G is likely to feature a 90Hz screen. The device is also expected to support AdaptiveSync which allows the refresh rate to vary from 30Hz to 90Hz depending on the content you consume.
Poco M3 Pro 5G specs
The Poco M3 Pro 5G is powered by a MediaTek Dimensity chipset, making it the brand’s first 5G phone with a Dimensity chipset. The MediaTek Dimnensity 700 chipset powers the device.
It is an octa-core processor built on top of a 7nm process with two Cortex-A76 CPU cores clocked at 2.2Ghz and six efficient Cortex-A55 cores running at 2GHz. Taking care of the graphics and gaming is the Mali-G57 GPU clocked at 950MHz. The chipset also supports a 5G network.
The device is available in two configurations - 4GB+64GB and 6GB+128GB with LPDDR4X RAM + UFS2.2 storage combination. In India, going by Poco’s previous track record, the phone is expected to arrive with at least 6GB of RAM which also means we might get a different configuration of the Poco M3 Pro 5G in India.
In terms of optics, the Poco M3 Pro 5G sports a 48MP (f/1.79) main camera followed by a 2MP (f/2.4) macro and a 2MP( f/2.4) depth sensor. For selfies, the device comes with an 8MP (f/2.0) camera. Some of the camera features include Night mode, AI camera 5.0, Movie frame, Video macro mode, and AI portrait mode with bokeh and depth control.
The device runs on MIUI 12 based on Android 11 out of the box. For security, the device comes with a side-mounted fingerprint sensor and face unlock support. Other features include a 3.5mmm headphone jack, Hi-Res audio, NFC, Bluetooth 5.1, and dual-band Wi-Fi.
Lastly, the device will pack with a big 5,000mAh battery with support for 18W fast charging via Type-C. However, the company is bundling a 22.5W fast charger in the box. The battery is also another area where Poco has improvised for Indian variants, we wouldn’t be surprised if the Poco M3 Pro 5G in India comes with a bigger battery and faster-charging speeds.
