The BIEA International STEM Youth Innovation Competition is organised by the British International Education Association (BIEA), and is an annual, global competition for students under the age of 18. It aims to foster talent in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Maths (STEM), and also to disseminate the best and most advanced practices for teaching in the field. The competition invites youths from all over the world to demonstrate and refine their knowledge and skills, and to be inspired by what STEM has to offer.
Whether participants are teenagers interested in the STEM disciplines, or educators considering how to innovate with STEM in a primary or secondary curriculum, they are provided with a wonderful opportunity for learning and ingenuity. The competition also engages the Arts and the Humanities through the annual theme around which the competition is organised. Each year, the theme is selected to instil competitors with a broader sense of purpose and responsibility as global citizens. The theme asks students to build a bridge between technological innovation and its real-world applications.
The competition is undertaken with the organisational support of the British Science Association, the Royal Institution, and Engineering UK.
